While looking at a DVD burner I found myself wondering if I couldn't just burn a complete restore disk for myself. Is this possible in Windows98se? And if it is, how would I go about it?

Get yourself a copy of GHOST and try this. (http://www.ping.be/satcp/ghostresq01.htm) You don't need a DVD burner to do it, but depending on how much data is on your drive, it will reduce the number of disks required.

I bookmarked "The Coaster Factory" and it should save me alot of grief in the future.

I use Drive Image 5.0. It's a lot easier to use.

Drive image is another copy/disk management utility like Ghost. Some like it better than Ghost.

I made a backup restore of my ME O/S using ghost. It takes some reading if you want to make a bootable restore disk.
I got a lot of help here
http://www.cdrom-guide.com/
just do a couple searches on bootable CD's etc.

I have a copy of both Power Quest's Drive Image 5.0 and Norton's Ghost, Personal Edition. Both are about the same in creating the backup. The difference is like using IE or Netscape. Both get the job done in a similar manner.

The Emergency Boot or Rescue Disks are easier to create with Drive Image 5.0. The program will make the necessary disks. You just have to know how to format a floppy! You don't have to know any command lines.

Good comparison RayH.
Briab Guy, that site will be useful.
I'll be checking prices at the local CompUSA.
