I am an avid gamer and need some help. I currently have a Dell Dimensions 4100 series with a 866Mhz Pent.lll. 40gig hd with 128mb RAM(another 256Mb on its way in the mail)... I am currently using a 32mb Nvidia TNT2 m64 AGP video card. I was wondering if I should upgrade to a better card. I really don't have any complaints about the card I'm using, but was just curious. I also cant afford to spend $300 on the geF3(what a beast). So, any info or help you can lend me will be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

A TNT2 m64 is a severely limited video card for today's games. It's quite crippled when compared to a true TNT2 and it isn't much better than an original TNT card. You would notice a difference in the smoothness of your games with a faster video card. Your other items look like they're up to par... but that video card could be a bottle neck. There's a really good used Gainward GeForce 2 Pro for sale here (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=45&threadid=650838). $100 shipped from what I understand, and it supposedly will edge out a GeForce 2 Ultra.

I am not a gamer, But it seems to me if you have no complaints with the current card why change it? save the money for some other upgrade. Possibly a processor or such. anyway just a thought. good luck.

I agree with Tiretool, with some more RAM and a GeForce 2 Pro you'll really see the difference in the games.

I have a customer that's an Everquest junkie that has a 1 gig 4100 - that came with the crap M64 - I put a Radeon LE into it and tweaked it with Radeon Tweaker and it's a world of difference - the LE only cost him $70. The M64 was recycled as an upgrade for his old Dell P2-300 to replace the 4 meg Riva 128 it came with.
