After an evening of Unreal Tournament a window popped up saying that Windows could not detect a PS/2 mouse, and the mouse became inoperable. Since I had a serial adapter I plugged it in there and it works fine. Did I lose (burn up) my PS/2 port? No physical damage is noticible. Any suggestions or similiar problems?
Thanks

no I do not believe so:
did you try a different ps/2 mouse
go to device manager and check what is listed under your mouse setting.
if ps/2 is there remove it, shut down, and let windows find it upon startup and do a reintstall.
good luck

Try unplugging the power supply, connecting the PS/2 mouse then plugging back the power and starting up.

Thanks guys, but sorry it didn't work. My Device Manager does not even show a mouse
Any other suggestions? Until then I'll operate with a serial mouse:(

I guess it(Cheap A4 Tech) finally died. It was running in the serial port until today. I plugged in an old serial mouse and it still works. Guess I am off to buy an optical itellimouse.
Thanks for the help!
