I am unable to run quake 3 arena demo it crashes at the id software clip at the start i have to reset then the windows loads and the screen is so bright that you can not use the computer this exact same thing happed with the full game on my friends computer is it the game itself or something else maybe my graphics card is not up to it i have directX 8.0. is there anyone who can help

Try finding newer drivers for that video card either friom Asus, SiS or GLSetup. If there are none or they don't fix the problem, get a real video card!

Surely you can find a good cheap video card like a radeon or a geforce2
