i haave win 98se as my op sys.
i believe it is missing some files.
how can i let win pick up the missing files automatically

What kind of files do you think your system is missing? System files (.dll, .sys, .exe, etc...) or program files (like Note Pad, Paint, Calculator, etc...)?

when i turn it on.
as it booth up,and scroll down,
i see about 7 or 8 line "indirect path no dir fault"
then it would not load win.
when it does there is no taskbar.
then a win will pop up saying "win updating files"
this will just keep going on.

[reboot]

Boot to safe mode.
Go to STart > Run > and type in: SFC
Run it.
