Hi,
Thanks.
Doesn't it mean that an standard phone can't use this option? This sounds like a option for a digital phone, not for an analog one.
Am I right?

ISDN is a digital line so you cannot make a phone call over it.

There are such creatures, digital phones. Call a Phone Co. technician and he'll plug his phone to the digital socket and talk.

If you have ISDN then you need an ISDN compatible phone. Actually it claims to be possible to make an analog phone work with ISDN. Actually I haven't tested it yet (I have ISDN. . well I think I'm gonna try this soon).

That's what I meant -- a standard phone call.
Digital phones are hard to come buy -- you don't just go to BestBuy and pick one up.

I had an ISDN hookup for a year before 1.5 DSL was available. The modem had two rj11 jacks that any "regular" phone could be plugged into.

But could you actually use a regular phone in it? Our phone company warns people not to plug into the digital jack as it will fry their phone or standard modem in their computer.

yep.. I did it.. HERE (http://www.globalcons.com/products/eicon/desktop/divataisdnmodem.htm) is the link to the one I have. It was provided by Sprint. I still have it.. if anyone's interested the first $100 takes the entire setup - unit, wiring, interface cable, software, manual, etc...
