I have a system that locks up every time I try to open more that a couple of windows of internet explorer itis running 5.5 here the tricky part it is on a wireless connections at speeds compariable to a t1 or t2 I wish I could get this fixed as soon as possible it does not do it if I use netscape could it be that the computer is not able to handle the speeds that the internet connection is putting out the sys is about a pentium 233 with 64 meg of ram any ideas would be the greatest of help

Hi shane254,

Do you have a lot of background applications running on your PC? Are you using some kind of utility suite like Norton Utilities or McAfee Nuts and Bolts? Are you using McAfee VirusScan?

Your problem sounds like you have a lot of background apps slowing down your system and when you open a bunch of IE windows, you're running out of system resources.

Hit Ctrl Alt Del and see how many processes you have running as soon as you boot up your system. Or look by the clock...do you have more than 10 icons there? If you do, all those apps are using up system resources. Do you absolutely need them all running at start up? If not, there should be a way to disable them.

What OS are you using?
