Hi. I just formatted my hardrive and installed Win98. I am on a generic build POS comp, and dont know anything about it or have any of the papers for it. The video card is running in 16colors and bad resolution. I havnt installed drivers for it because I dont know what the Vid card is. It doesnt say anywhere on the chip itself what it is. When I do Control panel > system > display adapters > properties, the name at the top reads "Standard PCI graphics adapter(VGA)". I have tried getting drivers off the Win98 disc, but none are found. The card is an AGP offboard card. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Been almost a year since I have stopped coming to the forums to help answer questions, glad it see people are still here to help.
Thanks

Hi Korbad, welcome (back) to the PC Mech forums!
First, does it say anything in the top left corner when you startup the computer about the video card, like counting RAM or even showing the brand?
Second, download SiSoft Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/) and see what it reports for the video card and video chipset.
Hope that helps.

You can also go to http:\\www.driverguide.com there you can find utilities for identifying your card and you can also find a driver. Most cards are identified two ways the FCC ID # printed on it or the manufacturer and model # printed on it.

Thank you both! Was looking for hours for a utility such as these.
When I can back to the computer (at other house), I will see what it says at startup.
Thanks again
