After much 'uninstalling' followed by a defrag, suddenly, after I startup and enter my user id and password and click ok, immediately an error box pops up and says: Explorer X This program has performed illegal operation and will be shutdown. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

Then I click the Close option and the error box goes away. Just a blank screen.

I've tried to use my backup disk, no use. I've tried to boot to the safe mode but nothing seems to identify or remedy the problem.

What to do??

Please help.

MK

Never mind, I figured it out. Never did this before.

Using boot disk, got to A:\ then changed drive letter to the CD drive and ran setup for W98SE. Took loads of time and a good hunt for the code number but it reloaded windows and everything was there and still works.
