I installed norton antivirus and utilities and got rid of a gen.choke.worm. Everything has been great for several days, now my computer (windows Me) is threatening to crash. The main problems coming up are invalid active X/com problems. there are 45 problems so far. Nortons will repair them, but it asks me if I will accept that it will fix the problems in whatever way possible. Too scary for me. my friend who has windows 98 had the same sort of problems several days ago and now her computer has crashed and she can't even get into it through dos. Any suggestions????????:

I hate to say this but you are probably looking at a full format reinstall given the number of VXD problems that you have. Although Norton Windoctor will claim to repair them it can cause more errors than you have ever seen. As a matter of fact, the only reason anybody here has Norton Utilities on their system is for the Defragging program.

I agree with morriswindgate. Norton should not be relied upon to do a proper job repairing the .vxd files. The other way, of course, is to get a big fat book on Windows Registry and fix this yourself (not recommended). Wipe the drive and start over:(
