Bad xp disks

A while ago there was a post concerning certain XP disks that were shipped defective or corrupted with a letter code to identify them, I have searched and can't find it does anyone remember the posting, thanks in advance.

I e-mailed a guy who new of the problem,and He told me that if I had a bad disk then I would not be able to install it. He had two, you could try contacting Microsoft and asking that question.
