Hello,

I have a friend that for some reason, when Win98 loads on his computer, a Window pops up asking his username and password, then he hits cancel and Windows continue to load. The other thing is that the part where he is supposed to enter his username is grayed out, I want to know if is possible to get rid of this Windows popping out everytime windows starts.

Any help appreciated.

Go into CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK> and in the list, remove Microsoft family Logon and Windows Logon. Click ADD>CLIENT>MICROSOFT>CLIENT FOR MICROSOFT NETWORKS and click OK. If your friend is using a DSL, Cable or LAN then this may interfere with the proper operation of those. If just dialup then all you need is CLIENT FOR MICROSOFT NETWORKS, DIALUP ADAPTER and TCP/IP in the network components. After the install copies files it will ask you to restart the computer. After the restart the logon window will may come up again. If it does, enter a name in the user field but LEAVE THE PASSWORD BLANK AND CLICK OK instead of cancel. You will never see that box again.
