When I open up Internet Explorer or Outlook Express my computer reboots on its own? Everthing else is working fine even Outlook Express and IE if I'm off-line. This problem just started happening for no apparent reason. The only thing I can recall happening is a "pop-up" window occurred while on-line and I "X" it out then the PC rebooted. I've run a Virus Scan, Scan Disk and Defraged and still the problem keeps occuring when I go on-line. Any ideas on how to fix this?

First thing, try reinstalling your TCP/IP. Since it only happens while online...that could be a cause. Also, try either reinstalling IE/OE, or if you don't have 6.0 yet...try upgrading. One of those 2 should fix it I would hope

I reinstalled TCIP, still no luck. I'm kind of hesitant about unistalling Outlook Express 5.01 and IE because I have alot of mail saved in folders that I don't want to lose. Is there a way for me to save all of my mail? Should I Uninstall my version of IE and Outlook Express?

STOP!
Nobody said anything about uninstalling IE/Outlook; you do that and you should just start searching for your OS CD.

Just run an upgrade for IE and that should automatically upgrade Outlook Express with it and your mail shouldn't be effected. As far as backing up your mail, yes that can be done but if I remember correctly when I did that for my endusers at my company I think I exported the mail to a file. Obviously you can't do that since you said you can't open the app without it rebooting; but by some chance you can open it simply go to "File" "Export" and the rest is self explanatory. Make note of the file and it's location.

Problem solved. It turned out that the generic soundcard I installed was causing my system to reboot whenever I used Outlook Express or IE. All I did to fix it was put my old soundcard back in.
