I am a member at many forums. I always try to be nice and contribute as much as possible. I don't make spam threads (well unless it has some bearing on another topic such as the "cutest members" thread) and I don't take up that much space so I can fit in the overhead compartment ;).

I am just a kid and very engrossed in technology. I came to these boards as a suggestion from a friend because he said you guys knew a lot. When I first got here I could tell that it was very professional which is fine, but I never thought my thread that I started would be viewed negatively.

So I suppose I'm sorry, and I'd like to apologize. I'd like to make a suggestion though:

I don't think it's polite or professional to say things like "You should hold your tounge if you wish to stay here any longer. I am not about to put up with such comments at this time. There is no arguing that matter either." Now I'd like to know what was so horrible about what I said. Unless you are a 10 year old little boy who runs to the teacher each time the underclassmen girls call him names, I think you should be able to tell that it was a joke.

I have put more thought into it though, so I won't say anymore. It could be a misunderstanding on my part too. If you were being sarcastic about the "banning" quote then I apologize about this thread. It was all a big misunderstanding, no hard feelings.

If not, I think you have some selfesteem issues and use these forums as a means to have some sort of control, which I think is wrong. All forums have policies, (I'm quite aware of that - I use to have a little message board, nothing spectacular like this), but there are times when to flex your muscles and times when you should just laugh at the obvious joke, tell them it's not appropriate and then leave the issue alone.

Now I pray you don't ban me for this  because I believe I have my right to voice my opinion and get it out in the open. No hard feelings eh? ;)

You should have posted in "What do you the readers want to see on the 'Mech?" thread.

Your on your own. :D :D :D

I didn't think about that, but I will now that you've suggested.

Great thing about PCMech is the class of folks visiting and hanging out. There is a world of knowledge possessed by many who are willing to share it. PCMech also has a lighter side where folks can post on almost anything, but it's always kept in good taste. When the mods feel things are moving close to the edge, they step in, and sometimes it ain't pretty. But at the end of the day, everyone is still friendly. Those traits make this the best forum on the web.

Doc gave his warning, and it wasn't heeded. BTW, he has no self-esteem problems that I know of. Being the big dog of PCMech would negate those feelings anyway.

;)

You're a nice guy Sarge... :)

but that wasn't my complaint. Taste is understandable and I can see why ya wanted me to stop, but why the "banning" threat. I've been a mod before and have never threatened anyone with a ban for things like that.

If he wasn't kidding, I want an apology from him. I've already apologized for my actions. If this is in your policy it needs to change, it is very rude and aversive.

PCM regulars usually read all the threads posted in the same forum before they post. If you can't find the thread then oh well.

Anyways it was funny that your cartoon picture could have got a date. :D

That would be mistake #2. Dok isn't the type of guy to change his mind very often. Once it's set, it's pretty much set for good. He's not an impossible guy to get along with. All that was asked is to drop the issue, and there won't be any problems.

I didn't see it :( sorry. Resolution is really high, hard to read some text and I forget how to resize in IE.

Thanks for the offer, bob, but I don't do dating yet. Parents won't let me ;) I'll let you know when I get older ;)

Why is this guy so stubborn? I don't see the big deal about apologizing, doesn't have to be a big deal. It takes a bigger man to admit he was wrong.

This place was really cool for a while, but this instance has really made me lose respect for you guys. I know I'm just another faceless member that you could care little about. Is this the attitude your wanting to present to your members?

Lain, your digging your grave. You have not looked around the site enough to see that you can not say anything to any one that you would not say to your own family with all of them watching.

Just be quiet for a while.

Remember parents do not admit their mistakes either. ;)

My parents apologize about things...

How did I dig my grave deeper, I said I was going to stop :(

I told you beforehand that at first glance this place did look professional, and if I called my dad a poop head he'd give me a noogie  , not block me from his message board

Hey Lain,

It might be your best bet to drop it. The staff keep pretty tight ropes on this place for a good reason, and if you read Toaster's thread, I think it pays off. Sometimes the boss (in this case Dok) has to make a call. He made one. Life goes on. There's a reason.

If you had a job and your boss told you do refrain from doing something and you didn't agree, you wouldn't challenge him and ask for an apology, right? (I don't need an answer).

People interested in the technical fields (aka nerds) have not always been blessed with physical beauty. Although this is clearly a stereotype, it is one that still manages to stick. In light of this, I, for one, am disheartened to see how quickly some have jumped to openly judge the looks of the women in the photo gallery.

Being a scientist, I work with all men at my job. I put up with the stories of strip clubs and nagging wives. It's sad that when it comes right down to it, men catagorize and judge women often in the name of "fun". Thankfully, there are also men who know better than to be suckered into answering such a question unless they have a diplomatic answer, and the moderators who realize the potentially hurtful nature of that thread.

Yes, Kassia is a very attractive woman, I think that is obvious. But in choosing, you inadvertantly suggest the others don't measure up.

This is the reason I wanted the discussion to end. It can offend some people, and will as this case shows.

This thread is also closed. Lain, consider this your last warning before being booted. I suggest you take everyone's advice, including my own, and lay low for a while. You just might get lucky and catch a shard of forgiveness. Although your apology was in good heart, it would have been better suited in email or PM to me instead of making hoopla about it. I do not appreciate actions that seem to try to garner public support for a cause that rivals a choie made by one of the staff.

I will state this again as well. The best place to voice opinions about this site is either a decent and well-formed email or PM to the mods or me, or in a thread posted by one of us such as the one mentioned from Toaster.

On a closing note, who cares what a person looks like. I'll take anyone so long as they are honest and caring.....I'm still single.
