Anyone know how to install win95 upgrade on a clean machine? My original dos disks are corrupted.

Well, maybe I'm wrong, but since you have purchased (I'm assuming you did) the upgrade, you can use someone else's version of Windows 95 to install it. Or, and again, I'm taking your word that you had the original dos disks, you can borrow some dos disks from someone else, since you had the disks. But maybe I'm completely wrong...

I did purchase both dos and win3.1 etc. but the first dos disk is corrupted.
I have heard that there is a way to do this install as long as you have the files that win95 looks for on your hard disk.

You don't need the DOS diskd, you need the win 3.1 disks.

That's right and it may be only the first 5 disks. The DOS disks are not needed at all.

You will need the first Win3.1 disk only as windows 95 setup is looking that you in fact got a Win3.1 installation disk - the file it is looking on is SETUP.INI of win3.1 then you can just forget about the rest of the disks..

Just BTW - Win95 upgrade can also be installed without having the Win3.1 disks - but this I better do not post - as it is close to the boarder of legality...

As Hpro said, you only need to show 95 that you have disk #1 of Win 3.1

There's a ton of Win95 install info at http://www.geocities.com/politalk/win95/install.htm

Was installing from floppy, not cd. You didn't hear this from me but must have a file named win386.exe on drive to upgrade. Thanks for help.
