I have had a problem with my PC for a while. At periodic times it will chatter the floppy drive. I can't find anything running that would cause this. It has done this for months. It is probably messing up something but I have not had time to address this problem with my recent job chang and all.

Dr. Watson was ran this morning. Here was the Dr Watson says is wrong.

If the Taskbar is behaving strangely, try exiting INSTANTACCESS.E.

So, How do I fix it??? How do you exit INSTANTACCESS.E. ???

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Empty your recently used documents. Right click the taskbar and select properties, then click on advanced, then clear the recent documents.

Carolina Mtnr,

I think that at one point you saved a docmument to a floppy and could have that program (i.e., like MS word) on auto save. I have seen this before and people have cleared the documents tab to elimante this issue. HTH

Thanks guys but she is still chattering. :( I am real close to taking it to the PC dealer in town. :( I just hate to have to pay the guy to fix something that is probably real simple. Thanks for your ideas, Any more??:)

Hi Carolina Mountaineer,

Do you know what the "INSTANTACCESS.E." is? Is there an icon next to your clock that is associated with it?

Have you done a full virus scan with updated virus definitions lately?

If the "INSTANTACCESS.E." is some kind of program that is starting up with Windows, you can disable it by going Start> Run> type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and click Okay> click on the Startup tab> uncheck the box next to "INSTANTACCESS.E." or similar> click Apply and then Okay> reboot.

You might also want to see if there is an entry for it in the Windows startup folder and delete it. Start Windows Explorer (right click on Start button and choose Explore> click the "+" next to the Windows folder> scroll down to the Start Menu and click the on "+"> click the "+" next to Programs> click on the Startup folder> if you find an entry for INSTANTACCESS.E., delete it.

One more thing - Control Panel > SYSTEM > PERFORMANCE > FILE SSYTEM > FOPPY DRIVE and umanrk SEARCH FOR NEW FLOPPY or alike ..
May the read out differs a bit as I type this out of memory but the location definately is the right one..

If you save something then safe it to the hard drive instead directly to the floppy this will prevent such things in the future.. and then right click on the file and select Send to - A:\ you will need to have Tweakui installed to use the Send to option..

Well I disabled INSTANTACCESS and it still chatters. BTW Dr Watson says that systems are running normal now. It still chatters. I will try the last idea by Hpro and see what happens. Thanks again!!:)

Are you running Office 97? Look for a MS utility called Find Fast (pretty sure bout that name) in control panel and turn it off. It will periodically search for all MS Office files so you can open them faster should you want to open them (typical sort of thing - it slows system down always to save you a second when opening files)
