Spyware
What do you search for when doing a scan for spyware on your system?
Also, would the latest version of Norton Antivirus look for spyware while at the sametime looking for viruses? I would like to think so

Spyware, isn't a virus or a trojan, instead it is more like a cookie and there are two way to get rid of it> One just empty your cookies and temporary internet file Or tw go to http://www.lavasoft.com/ and download a freeware program called Ad-Aware. The advantage to AD-Aware is that it only looks for spyware cookies and does not delete the one you want to keep, if any, plus it will also clean the regisry if you end up with Comet Cursor, bonzai buddy, or some of the other more persistant spy ware.
For looking for really heavy spyware and keyloggers, you need a pay for it program called SPYCOP

Norton will not search for spyware as spyware isn't really classified as a virus. I use Ad-Aware for spyware removal. Spyware returns information about the user back to the originator. In most cases, this information is used to direct advertizing that may be of interest to the user.
