Word 2000

A friends of mine is having problems with word 2000 every time he starts the program it gives an illegal operation "WINWORD has performed an illegal operation" so I did a repair of word still no go so uninstalled and reinstalled no good did a virus scan but no virus so i then did a thorough scandisk no bad clusters still no good so i was wondering what to do next maybe i can restore the registry back say 10 days to before it happened i dont know if windows keeps a backup for this long any help would be great thanks;)

I registry restore would be scanreg /restore but It might or might not do the trick.

Hi Streams,

It may not be any help, but I seem to remember coming across a similar problem involving Matrox Millennium or Mystique graphics card and Office/Word.

The suggested solutions to try were: lower the colour depth, lower the resolution, update the video drivers.

Not much help if he doesn't have a Matrox, but the solution "may" apply to some other graphics cards as well.
