Jumper settings: Ds for single and master drive. Add a jumber to sp for slave.
AS for the other does the bios recognize the drive?

Quantums usually look like

DATA CABLE |::: POWER for a master setup

DATA CABLE ::|: POWER for a slave setup

DATA CABLE :|:: POWER for cable select

it does'nt work it keeps telling me that CONFIG.SYS or HEIMEN is'nt cofigured right then says no operating system
I'tried it as a slave and it won't detect it
although it's hooked up where the CD was
any ideas ??
the 2 gig drive has only 3 jumper settings and there were no jumpers on it when I took it out, the 8 gig has 4 jumper

Ok I just looked and the OEM says 530\570 Ma's
And the other one says 850\1000Ma
so thats probably why it won't work ?

OK - first off are the jumpers on the Bigfoot three in a row or four in a row - this actually doesn't matter - if the first jumper is used - as Hal9000 made the instruction for you...the last one in the row isn't used..
Only on older drives there are the SLAVE AND CABLE SELECT the otherway around..
Look at the picture so you need to set the JUMPERS according to the picture below thats why you get the disk it just says no fixed disks present

sorry ISP went off while I was transfering the pics..they are on now..

If your Drive has 4 Jumpers on it then make sure that you set that jumper to DS or if you set it to CS and you are using ATA66/100 Cable then make sure that the BLUE connector goes to the Motherboard the grey one stays free if there isn't any SLAVE CONNECTED AS CS also and the BLACK Connector goes to the BIGFOOT..
Regular cables use for all three connectors the same color..
