FTP help please

I dont know anything about it but I want to. i went and saw my girlfriend in lithuania and she was using windows commander, which i am downloading right now, to tap into an ftp called kobra that had, well, it had stuff on there i would like to be able to get. what is ftp, how do i do it, how do i find ftp sites, or that specific one, etc. hope someone can help thanks!

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. An FTP program allows you to recieve and send (download and upload) files to a remote computer. Its as simple as that.
