security question IE or Moz

I just read that Mozilla is more secure the IE. If that is the case can anyone tell me why?

3 Primary reasons that I can think and categorize as!

1) Mozilla is just a browser .. it is not your operating system; it will not encroach upon your operating system, and will not others do it; unless by EXPLICIT warnings. IE is also your OS, for better or worse .. which means that every thing can potentially exploit the underlying bonds between the network and the desktop. Components such as Internet Explorer, Outlook Express etc that now rely on the web browsing engine are now extremely vulnerable.
Imagine how insecure Windows as a whole is .. now when you integrate a welcome mat .. that is IE .. its a recipe for disaster.
In addition to everything else; a crash to Mozilla is just a crash to your browser .. IE crashing can cause serious instabilities. Try running an intensive webpage and then terminate using a C-A-D .. the error will just cause mozilla to shut down .. on the other hand, your system will go through a warm boot if your IE crashes on you.

2) Scripting features of M$ are truly the culprit here ..
Micro$oft afraid of Sun's cross platform JAVA did 2 boneheaded things: 1 decided that it would bring out its own Java VM (which is buggy and crash prone) and this is the "interesting" part .. M$ decided to tout Basic as its Java rival .. hence you've got VBScripts and ActiveX and the whole slew of disasters just waiting to happen. Most sysadmins who want to negate this; remove the ability of their terminals to accept ActiveX and VBScripts etc. If you were to remove all of those bells and whistles, IE turns out to be really bland and much slower than Mozilla.

3) IE like Windows is a very insecure and bloated piece of code that runs pretty much at with its own standards (low ones); the result is that bug fixing is slower than bug discovery. Also given the market share & the average computer savvy of Windows/IE users, there are much more vulnerabilities to code exploit and enjoy .. most windoze users have no clue that their OS components need updating. Look at the # of VBS virii over the past few years; should be clue enough as to why its so easy to get a windows users!
The software offerings are out in the market; more to establish a customer base and to prevent rival firms from establishing theirs; than to provide any reasonable advantage in browsing. Also is notorious for being easy to get and send information about the client (spyware integration)

ok, I sorta get the pic. Obviously, I am using Windows, Pretty much goes hand in hand with IE.
Is Mozilla and netscape ahh, interconnected. I don't know how to put it.
They arn't the same thing from what I read, but I can't read an article about Mozilla without reading about Netscape. Do I need to run Netscape or have learned Netscape before using Mozilla?
And where is the best place to download Mozilla, and the best to start learning it. I am not a programer etc... But can get around some.
As you can see I am lost as far as Mozilla is concerned.

Mozilla was developed by the same people that developed Netscape as an open-source browser. Netscape and Mozilla are not the same but for the most part they are set up the same way. Most of the configuring of Mozilla is done through Edit/Preferences like NS.

You can download Mozilla from http://www.mozilla.org .

Opera 6 is also a good browser. It has ads with it but they aren't that bad.

I was wondering if you can buy Mozilla? Its a big download for a dial up.
Especially when they kick you off in 15 or so min.
I would have to use Gozilla or one of them which I don't really like to do.
