Hi,
I'm trying to find out if I can install my internet provider software on two computers, both using dial up connection. One computer has an external modem, the other has an internal. I have them connected with a crossover cable and two NIC's, and they are talking together fine.
I have tried installing the internet software on one of the computers and it will dial up, but it won't really connect to the web, it just gives me one of those screens with the refresh suggestion. I know that both modems are working good, so I know its not a modem problem. My other computer works fine with the internet, but the other computer just won't install, it did before when I just had one computer, but now with the other one and having them networking together, it just won't work.
I don't really want to share internet, I'm looking for both of them to be able to dial up whenever they want to, without the other one being turned on. Is this possible?

Yes, it is possible if you got a ROAMING priviledges from your ISP. Some ISP got this ONE COMPUTER ONE ACCOUNT POLICY (Dump it!) I got my Computer Networked but, I turned off the ICS on my SERVER computer, if no one is using the CLIENT computer. Sometimes, I used the Client Computer using it's own Modem.

Ahhh, I have it working. I took out the nic, got rid of the network settings with this computer, then installed the internet software and got it working. I then reinstalled the nic and network stuff and its working fine now.

you said that you didnt want them both to be turned on at once. well i
dont know if you know but you can make your life a lot easier by
just having a program like Win GATE installed and then connect with the
one thats working! try this..... its simple!
