Does anyone know of a retail adsl ethernet modem that is Alcatel and Westell compatable? I have a Alcatel usb now and want to change to a ethernet modem without going through my telephone service. The usb modem puts to much of a load on my computer for my taste.

Yeap, used on auction/forum sites is gonna be your best bet. People who got them for free with DSL service will let them go cheap.

That's what I thought, but does it have to be a Alcatel or do they all have the same standard, as far as being able to work with my adsl? The phone company told me to be sure it was westell or alcatel compatable. thanks for the help.

You're in Arkansas, so I assume you have DSL from SWBell (I live in Fort Smith ;)).

If so, you need a DMT compatible device, not CAP or G.Lite. Look at the specs on anything before you buy to be sure.

I'm in Central Arkansas and have CenturyTel ADSL. I found what I needed and bought it today, hope to change everything over tomorrow. I want to thank everyone and say this is a great forum.
