View Full Version : system files
What are the names of the system files in windows 2000 ?and can you just make a boot disk with them?I already made a recovery disk thru backup, but still like to know what the main files to look at that do the main booting. Thanks ahead of time for any responses.mike
I can not believe there is no one out there that know which files are the main system or boot files. How about nt4.0 and maybe I can see if they are the same.

From the command prompt type "makeboot"
w/out quotes. That will make boot disks, from there look at the files!

look on the win2k cd for makeboot. Copy it to your hard drive and then run it from the command line.

The makeboot program is on the win2k cd. Have 4 formatted floppies ready. It makes a 4 disk set of system files for booting.
Sorry about the slow response but just got done traveling 2000 miles on vacation.I already had made the disks when installing, that being the 4 disks but thought that maybe there could just be one boot disk like 98.Guess not. Thanks for all responses as always.mike
