Confused

New system less than a month old running XP in a dual boot setup with WIN98FE, 8KHA+ mobo and in need of virus protection. I run Norton's on my other PC but wanted to try something different on this one.

I tried running Housecall from Trend Micro on numerous occasions and was successful only once. All the other times I received a msg. after entering my email id. and clicking Submit, that IE had encountered an error and IE needs to shut down (must have sent 20 error reports to MS).

I next downloaded and installed PC-Cillin 2000 30 day trial version. All appeared to go well, ran scan and all was fine. Next time I booted, system would not come up, stuck in boot loop. It would get to a certain point after I selected XP from boot manager and then start over with the boot process. Finally I rstarted in safe mode and chose a restore point prior to download of PC-Cillin and got back up.

Not being sure that PC-Cillin caused problem I waited a couple of days until I had everything else back after the restore and rebooted. Reboot was fine. I then created a restore point, rebooted fine. I then downloaded PC-Cillin 2000 30 day trial, installed, ran virus check and none were found. Tried to reboot and caught in loop again. System would not come back up, until I rebooted to safe mode and chose the restore point prior to the PC-Cillin 2000 download.

Sorry this post is a tad long, but I wanted to try and convey the test I had done.

Anyone else with XP and/or 8KHA+ experienced any problems with Trend Micro or have any thoughts?

Thanks
Chas

I have it running on the same mobo with XP and have had no problems at all.

Have u tried this:
Install PCC
Dont reboot
Turn off RealTime scan and webtrap services
update your pccillin
Then reboot and try turning it on?

Thanks Statica for reply but that didn't help. I'll give Trend Micro support a couple of days to respond and If I cain't get it resolved, try Norton's.
Thanks
