I'm going to ask all you gurus out there to search your memory base to see if anybody has an idea why I can't access any site that has an IP address that starts with 192.xxx.xxx.xx.
I was on a Linksys router and now back on Enternet300 temporarily til I get my new router. Whether with router or software those sites time out. I looked at the Hosts file and found nothing but 127.0.0.1.
At this point, Mwave, Kodak, Citicorp, and Vanguard Group (401k access) are unreachable.
I believe its my Win98se causing the problem but don't know where to look. If I need to reformat/reinstall I will, but the last time I did, access to those sites lasted 48 hours and then just quit.
Fellas, any help will be appreciated.

Carl, maybe you need to try this:
Edit your hosts file.
It seems like you said in another post that you didn't have a hosts file only a hosts.sam. Well if you create a file called hosts, with no extension and add entries for the sites you can't access, it just may work.

Add entries for all of the sites that you can't access like
192.232.125.61 www.kodak.com

Then see if you can connect and hope that these sites never change IP addresses.

mairving,
Do I create the Hosts file in Windows/System?
Thanks for replying mairving. I guess you know I'm grasping at straws right now.

mairving,
Did a "Find" and all there is is hosts.sam. Went to Explorer and found a "Hosts" in Windows. Other then the readme and instructions, near the bottom was one IP 127.0.0.1. Under that I entered the Mwave IP #, space and then WWW.mwave.com as per instructions. Still no connect
There is something wrong with my O/S and I think I will be reformating C:\.

Hooray!! Found the problem.
The reason I could not connect to any sites with an IP starting with 192.xxx.xxx was because the NIC still had the router setup page address in it. The router setup page starts with 192.
I ran winipcfg to see if there was anything to change and there it was. So I renewed all, rebooted and now I can access Mwave!!!!
Now they will make some extra money.:D
Problem is, this all started with installation of the router and I should have my new one next week. This is going to be fun.
