office 2k keeps closing when using win me

hi all

im haveing a prob with office 2k... what happens is i open an office application such as word or outlook...and then like 3 secs later - once the window shows up... it closes itself. ive tried repairing and reinstalling. when i reinstalled it fixed it - then i went to check my mail through outlook and it started to do it again (about a few hrs later)

i dont have aclue whats causeing this prob..any advice or help would b greatly appreciated

Yes - You need to run a Virus Scan on your computer - I'm confident that there some little beast will show up..

same problem but with word only 2000 on my XP machine, after 2-20 seconds it gives me the winXP error window and makes me shut down the word DOC

WizDawg - as far I know Word 2000 needs to be upgraded to run proper on WinXp - I have seen this on the MS knowledge base a few weeks back - may you use online help to get this solved..as updates and patches are free of charge..

yeah thats what i thought... 2 things i gotta say to that.... it did run fine before( you dont think deleting the winMessenger that way did it???)


and i went to MS web page, where do i get the patches???

IE >HELP >Online support >select a OS or MS program then select progam updates..

btw i scaned my cojmputer with trends online scan and it has no viruses

Like HPPro said earlier...try downloading the latest and greatest patches.

there doesnt seem to be any, if someone whould liek to give me a direct link i will give it a shot, i dont see any XP undaters

does your install code for office 2k begin with this

if so then the reason it shuts down is because thaT code is no longer a valid code and another MS app has disabled it

things like autocad 2002
ms viso

office sp2

you need to call MS and get a new code they will tell you how to get rid of the old code to insert new one without reinstalling

this happened to me

and i installed autocad 2002

new code and all is well again
