Hello,
I seem to have a problem with TEMP files that are stored on the 'puter when surfing the web. they used to go straight to the TEMP folder, but now I find them scattered in bunches in EXPLORER. I can delete them from there, but I hate chasing them all around the 'puter, and it was nice just to go to the TEMP folder where they belonged and blast them from there. How do I get the TEMP files to go back to the TEMP folder?

Go to menu "Extras" (how is it called in English? It's the 5th menu point, right before the question mark) > Internet Options > General Tab.
In the "temporary internet files" rectangle, click "settings". What does it indicate for the folder name to store the temporary internet files?
There you can also give a folder on your own taste.
Hope that helps

It doesn't, really, just gives the regular menu tree; desktop, My comp, My documents, but wont let me create my own folder, nor is TEMP listed either. by the way, it is TOOLS. Thanx, Tim

Say, does the Temp folder still exist on your machine? please double check.
The "select folder" dialog does not allow you to create a folder but to err... select a folder. What do you think about "C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files"? That would be the default setting... which is not that bad.
Good luck!
Felix it's tools..
Ok temporaray internet files should go into c:\windows\temproary internet files
Temp files would go into C:\Windows\TEMP if either one is messed up you can set them both back by using the DEFAULT BUTTON in either EXPLORER >TOOLS >DEFAULTS or in IE -..
Or you can create the folder on your own if it got lost somehow anyway when deleted then usually Windows will replace it with a new TEMP folder at the same place.
If you like to make it easy to search for temp files then all you have to do is set the SEARCH to start in C:\Windows and then type in *.Tmp and find now..
or look for that key in the registry if not found then add it..
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment and then on the right side add a new STRING with following input..
TEMP C:\Windows\Temp
TMP C:\Windows\Temp
This also will do...as for the temprorary internet files you can do this throughout control panels internet option Icon..

Hi propflux01,
I've never heard of temporary internet files being saved all over the file system before. Have you done a full virus scan recently? You may also want to do a scan for trojans.

No, the TEMP file is there, thats why I was in EXPLORER in the first place, and realised where all those temp files were. I finally got it to let me direct things to the folder, so going to try that and see waht happens. thanx alot for the info.
