I need help with changing the bootup logo when you see the moving line on the bottom of the screen from windows 98 to something else.:confused: :cool: :confused:

I think you are referring to the logo.sys which resides in C:\Windows. I have only read how to do it, but have never done it before. I think you replace a bitmap in that directory and rename your logo.sys to something like logo_old.sys so that your new one can load. I better just stop and let someone that knows how to do it explain. Sorry

there are several utilities that will do it for you, some I'd trust, others I wouldn't. Nuts and Bolts will do that.

The new logo should has exactly the same size and color depth of the old file.

You'll get what you're looking for, plus a few hundred other options for hidden settings too :cool: -kd5-

Go to www.shareware.com and look for a program called Win Logo Changer. It's a freeware that will allow you to use any jpg, bmp, or gif to change the boot screen, wait screen, and shutdown. No exact sizing...no nutin'

I don't have any Microsoft "approved" screens. I used the program to make my personal computer personal!

www.tucows.com has lots of startup logos, you can download (a logo.sys file) and copy it to C:\ and that's everything you have to do to change the logo.

Choose the picture you like to make the startup picture then open it up in PAINT BRUSH - make sure that the Colors to not EXCEED 256Colors.. set the the height to 400 and the width to 320 then save it as LOGO.SYS and and copy it over to the ROOT folder - The file SIZE has not ot be higher then 127Kb.!!!
if LOGO.SYS already exist then rename the original file first - to something like LOGO.OLD or alike - restart and there you go..
