Does anybody have any Tech News about the release date of Intel's P4 2.4? I've seen a few on Ebay already, but I have not seen anything official yet.

Nope,

If with release P4 2.4G, there would be released 25,000rpm ata1500 HDDs, ata1000 CD-ROMs, etc, etc...you would have atvantage of that 2.4G.

Now, not much changes are made...

btw, what are the FASTEST mouse and keyboard made????

OK... I'm not kidding, but the fastest keyboard, if you ever have the chance to type on an Omni keyboard, try it. I go from about 45wpm to 80!! on one of those things. Every time I find one, it's usually some secretary that would literally kill if you try and take that keyboard away. Everyone I know that has tried one has increased typing speed considerably.

HAL, where I can get that one?

Now I have $5 black Monorail keyboard that's pretty good for me.

I'd like to try that OMNI if not too expensive.

Well, this is why I don't have one. About 3 years ago, a friend of mine who is quite familiar with the Omni as well tried to hunt one down. The original manufacturer of the Omni is out of business, but the keyboard was still being manufactured under the name Omni by a different company (don't remember who). The cost on this thing was $200CDN! As much as I like the Omni, I'm not paying $200 for a keyboard either.

why buy a 2.4 GHz processor when you can just as easily overclock it from 1.8. my friend has had his 1.5GHz running at 2.2 for since August and has had no problem. then again he's 15, a professional computer programmer. his computer has 4GB of RDRAM, four SCSI HDD's, a TI500, GF2TI, GF2MX, and he'll be getting a GF4TI4600 for less than 150 dollars. It's all legal!!!!!

Well, as it is so, I am now in the process of building a baddie too. I've got an Asus P4T-E with no onboard junk, 1 GB of Kingston ECC 800 RAMBUS RAM (4x256), 4 Ultrastar 36LZX 36GB SCSI 160 drives (3 ICY Docked), Adaptec 2100S SCSI 160 RAID with 64MB Cache, 21" Viewsonic P225, the Pioneer 16X/40X DVD, the Pioneer A03 DVD burner, and a SB Audigy Platinum with external box. I intend to put in the GeForce 4 card, and I had plans for the P4 2.2 until I saw this: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2002457488. Follow that link, and you'll see someone selling a 2.4 P4. So, for the moment, I have bought a 1.8 until I know what the next two months bring. So, I'm wondering where this guy on Ebay got it?

Why,

Just one reason- if you have TOO much $$$.

7200rpm ata100 won't read data faster,
ata33 CD-ROM will load as fast as on ANY PC

Some advantages you'll FEEL: PC will boot some 10-50 sec faster.- This is the reason to spend $$$ for? Where do you rush?

LOL HAL,

I'll stick better with my $5 Monorail keys and $5 IBM mouse.

Speed of typing depends a lot of memorizing keys, etc, etc.
How can keyboard make you type faster????

I used to type 1 word in 5 min.
Now, I can log-in without turning my table light on- in the dark(I do sometimes, when I wake up in the middle of the night and want to check someting on the net:).

LOL, you just have to "feel" one to understand. If you ever get the chance, sit down and type on one and you will instantly know what I mean.

I don't have $$$ to burn, but I am going to the wall with this system. But, it still brings me back to my original question. A guy has a 2.4 on Ebay yet I can't seem to find anything more about it anywhere. I guess maybe I'll ask him where he got it. Oh, and the drives, NO, NO, NO, NO... They'll be, oh, plenty faster than ATA's. They have 4MB of cache each, they can do multi-transaction processing, they spin at 10K, and they'll have a dedicated RAID controller.

Right... back to the topic ;) I checked with my supplier who checked with his Intel rep, no word on the 2.4 and he suspects that if one is on E-bay, it's either a remarked chip or a sample.

Heh... Funny you should say that. I wrote to the guy on Ebay. I told him that I had the intention of buying a retail box and thus was not a factor for bids. And, he said he thought 2.4 chips would be hitting in about one month. I guess it sort of leaves me where I began. It's a waiting game.

The only problem with that is when the 2.4's hit, they will be expensive, so you will be waiting for the 2.5's or 2.6's to come out to lower the price of the 2.4, but then you won't have the top end CPU either. It's a no win situation really.

Well, actually, I was thinking of waiting like maybe a month after release. You can get boxed 2.2's now for $550. So, yea, it's expensive, but it also isn't like paying $1300 for a brand spanking new 486/66 when they first arrived on the scene. ;)

You can be on the front end by simply overclocking. Case fans aren't that expensive, one can always up RAM. Besides, If you have a 1.8 and you want to be top of the line, you can get a case fan and stably overclock to 2.2. Say they release a new processor, you could probobly match it. It's all in the overclocking:cool:
