I've got RedHat linux 6.0, and at what I know, it doesn't have support for SB Live! sound cards. I run setup and from there sound configuration , it doesn't find any pnp sound devices, so I selected the IRQ's and DMA's what windows gave me for the 16bit emulation system, but no, it's complaining that my sound device is busy or something. It also says that at the startup (twice), followed by the red FAIL text. Do I need linux drivers for it? If yes, where can they be found.

Hiya:

Unfortunately the 2.2.x kernel that RHat 6.0 ships with doesnt quite access your SBLive. You have a few options, if yours isnt a mission critical computer, and have access to a decent enuff connxn speed, get yourself Rhat 6.2, the kernel jump should be able to get your SBLive working [i dont remember the kernel version documentations, off hand - even though I just used it earlier today .. thats age for u http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/smile.gif], hence I'd suggest doing step 2 or at least being aware of it, for the future as well...
the ALSA project is a wonderful collection .. www.alsa-project.org (http://www.alsa-project.org)
bookmark it and read the documentations and how to get your environ audio drivers for sblive working.
Cheers
