View Full Version : cursing my cursor

I am experiencing a problem with my cursor.
Here's a description:
if I have a download going, and I want to, say, read the news or play a game of solitaire (now I've really exposed how mundane my life is)...as long as I am downloading, the cursor will flicker between "working", "busy" and the normal cursor arrow. It doesn't always do this, as I write it isn't doing it but was a minute ago. It seems to happen more when IE is open, but not always...sometimes it happens when nothing other than the download is happening.
I know this probably sounds trivial, but is there a setting or adjustment that will keep this from happening??

Try right-clicking "My computer",select "Properties","Performance" tab,
"Graphics" button.Try adjusting the slider.

Hi Dan,

What are your system specs? A slow processor will have a hard time keeping up if there are multiple things going on in your system.

Yay! An ATI AIW fan! Finally! That's the same card I have. I have noticed peculiar things with mine as well. Like my screen being pushed over a 1/4 of an inch to either side occasionally. Try d/loading the latest drivers from ATI. You could also try posting a problem report to ATI. I have done that in the past, and I got an answer inside a week. HTH.

Hi Dan,

Do you have a lot of programs running in background? Do you have Find Fast enabled? Items running in background may be what's causing busy cursor to flash. Could also be the antivirus program checking the download for viruses.

Are you using a PCI winmodem? Winmodems rely on the CPU to function.

Have you checked for spyware, viruses and trojans?

I figured it out:
in the control panel for my Logitech Marble mouse, there is a setting for
PS/2 report rate. It was set at 200 "rep./sec.". When I reset it to 60 the "jitters" stopped.
thanks all.....
