I call it "new" cause its NEW to me. Work had some older laptops that were totally depreciated so I asked and jumped through some red tape hoops and got one.

According to Belarc its DELL Pentium 133, 32MB ram, 1.3gig hd. Currently it has Win95a loaded. Once I delete all the crap that I dont need or want I have to decide if I want to reload it from scratch or not. Thats where my delima comes in. It has a floppy drive, no CD. I would guess getting CD for it probably is not cost effective. It does have a PMCIA (sp?) 10/100 ethernet card, so I should be able to buy a dongle and connect it to my network in order to get stuff loaded.

But the OS is the problem, I am assuming based on its specs I should put Win95 back on it. Did 95 cd come with a option to convert the cd to floppies??

It will be basically used for light personal work, like geneaology and office. Nothing too intensive.

Anyone have any suggestions, this will be a new venture for me, I have only had desktops with CDroms.

Thanks

Your post was from a few days ago...

But if you haven't decided yet... seems like Win95a is a pretty
good choice for that notebook.

I'm a little surprised it doesn't have a CD drive. Even most of the
old Pentium 233 notebooks we used to have around my work had a Cd drive
available. Ask around at your work, maybe one was available to plug into
an options bay. (not fixed, but a modular, plug-in unit)

I wouldn't spend any money on it, though.
