I had a thread going in Windows ME/98/95 help about problems I was having with windows98. It has turned out that I have the win95.cih virus, so I figured I would ask my questions in the appropriate forum. I had just reinstalled windows and had problems installing some of my programs. I just installed Nortons 2001 antivirus and started cleaning the virus. Since it has to be done manually, it is taking forever, and I wanted to know if it was even worth the time to clean it manually or just do a reinstall of windows? I did a yahoo search on this virus and found that if the virus has spread to all the .exe files, which it has, it might be a better idea to reinstall windows than to try to clean it because you will never be able to fully get rid of it. I might be a little anal about this, but this system is two weeks old and I don't want this virus to damage my motherboard or anything else. I have all my stuff backed up on another hard drive, so reformatting would not be a huge inconvenience other than just a time consumer. Should I do the reinstall and then run Nortons immediately after, before I start loading all my programs to rid myself of it before it spreads? I just don't want this thing lurking around in the background slowing my system down.
