I am running two video cards myself (radeon 32 ddr agp, v5 5500 pci). mrjohnsonjr, you are doing everthing correctly as far as bios ,etc., but there could be a conflict between the ati and gforce card causing the lock ups. I know that when I first installed my two cards, there were freeze ups and bsod's, and I had to uninstall the software (not drivers) of the ati in order to get the two cards to work without conflicts.
Maybe that will work, I don't know , I never had a nvidia card to try that combination out. Good luck

1X to 2X You mean speed of AGP card - that is automatic depending on the speed of AGP card

You should be able to go into your bios and select the 2x or 4x (or maybe even 1x) setting for AGP - IF your mobo supports it AND IF your video card supports it.
Good Luck,
