I have a really old steering wheel, model per4ormer 181(i think)and on some computers it works perfectly others i have had it doesnt work at all and the rig i have currently it works on and off, they have all had windows 98 on them.

the current problem is it says "connected" in the game controllers menu but when u move it it becomes "disconnected" however to make things more confusing it doesnt do this all the time. it has got me absolutely stumped, does anyone have any ideas?? THANKS

Did you try a continuity check for each pin in the cable?

It may be necessary to flex the cord repeatedly at the point where it leaves the plug while performing the continuity check.
And at any point along the cable that looks like it might have been kinked.

thanx for that, i gave it a shot but no luck it doesnt appear to be that either.

i think i have found a solution, chuck it out my 3rd floor window run down stairs and jump up and down on it!!

Now you got the right idea Jimbob. It's a great way to get rid of stubborn problems. Use it myself quite often. http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/wink.gif
