Cable over a wireless NW??

I am thinking of purchasing a wireless network for home use. I was wondering if you could tell me what components i would need to do this and recomend which ones to buy. I want to use cable (brordband) internet over this network, will this be possibel? and will the speed be any differnt from using brousband over a wired network.

If you have 2 or more PC then the easiest in a multiport router and a NIC in each PC. Some good routers are SMC, Linksys, D-Link and Netgear. A wired network is cheaper and more secure if your PC's are positioned so that pulling wire is fairly easy. Then You would need the router, a NIC for each PC, and straight thru CAT5 cable long enough to go from each PC to the router and a short piece from the router to the cable modem (usually supplied with the router).

If pulling cable is not an option or you just simply want a wireless network, then you need a wireless router and a interface card for each PC. You would still need the cable between the router and cable modem. Keep in mind that wireless networks aren't as secure as wired networks. Also it is possible if someone is close enought to you, they can get a interface card for their PC and hop on your bandwidth.

you also need to consider the building structure (or area that you want to
cover) the speed may seem slower or be slower with the wireless if there
are any steel beams and concrete walls but if the Access point is in an open
room there should be no problem good luck

I use wireless but you may want to consider the new wire based networking solutions that use your phone line or electrical outlets.
