how does an AMR MODEM and ARM MODEM slot work, my mother board came equipt with a AMR slot so i bought the modem card, how ever the computer does not auto detect the card nor can i get to manully find it, the card came with no drivers and the mother board bois has nothing that i can find to switch the slot on if it is set to off. can anyone help me out here?
cheers
matt
Honestly, ditch the AMR(Audio Modem Riser) Modem and get a good PCI modem or even boardband. My custom computer I built cae with one of those pieces of junk. It combines the audio and modem in one card/modem or whatever. It is slow and cheap. Trust me on this one!

Hi mattmorgan
While ja83's post is probably true, depending on the phone line conditions
in your area, (and the fact that you've already bought an AMR modem), it can
be cost-effective and relatively speedy to use an AMR modem. [My wife surfs
at 49.3k and downloads at 52k with an ultra-cheap AMR from PCtel & an old
K6-III].
Some questions:
What motherboard?
What AMR modem?
What Operating System?
Many of these "software" modems require that you load the software first, and
follow some fairly exact procedures to have the detection & install go well.
Post back with some more info & we'll see if we can get you going.
