I've got a machine that experiences about 4 separate program crashes, particularly explorer, every time it boots when connected to our network. When you open an explorer window to a website or ftp it crashes, but if you use a UNC network name like \\bob it will just give me an "Action Cancelled" page like I clicked stop in the middle of downloading a webpage. I can access items on the network in DOS (meaning I can ping by IP and name, and telnet, and even DOS ftp,) but I can't use explorer at all. I've tried updating IE, and even installing windows again, overtop of the current installation and it doesn't fix the problem. But if I disconnect it from the network it works fine, but of course it can't access the network. I have experienced a similar problem with other Windows Me users before, when they are connected to the network, and there are Windows XP computers online, but usually the overlay install fixes it. It seems to be caused by Universal Plug and Play, but I've removed UPnP from this machine. I don't know what to think or do about this. The only solution I can come up with is move her from Me to XP or 98, but I'd rather not do something that extreme.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Seth
