I have operating system windows XP home. Does anyone know if this game will work on my O/S. I hate to buy it and it dosn't work. Because I can't return the software program.

I play Counter-Strike on XP all the time. It sometimes freezes up as I'm exitig the program, but I can play it fine. (CS is a modification of Half-life, in case you don't know)

Yep, Half-Life works fine.

@troysvihl

There's a workaround for Counter-Strike so that WinXP won't freeze when you exit it (it's a common problem). Instead of exiting it the normal way open the console and type in "exit". This way you exit counter strike and WinXP won't freeze.

WHy does HL for me does not run at full 80fps it runs at 30 and drops to 5 and goes up again!

It ran at 80fps the first timed i used it with my voodoo5 now its maxes out at 30 and drops after a few minutes this also happneds on CS and DoD!
any help is greatly appreciated!

Garou - What OS are you running? I know that in WinXP CS apparently maxes out at 60 FPS. I don't use XP so I can't say I'm positive on this, but I've talked to quite a few people who all have this problem. You could also try a tweak utility. Check out http://www.tweak3d.net/ and see if they have any tweaks you can try.

i have xp and half life works fine along with all of its mods so i think u should go get it it is a great game and have fun
