View Full Version : AMD 8000 Series | "Hammer"
Hey everyone, have you saw this? Just found it today and I said maybe some of you don't know.. AMD is going to make new chipsets, called their AMD 8000 series, codename "Hammer". The old XP was supposed to be called SledgeHammer I think. IT WILL ROCK. sorry for all intel fans, but AMD will now show what they can do. P4 will eat DUST! Intel will be crushed like an insect ! HAHAHA.. sorry, that's kinda my dream. ehhe. their new chipsets should be out on 4Q'02. Hope it will kick intel's ass!

I really hate these kind of posts. They just start flames. Pleeaaassee don't post like that in the future. If you want to let us know about a future product you don't need to include how much it destroy something else..

h I agree, lets not start an arguement. But I dont see it, Intel makes a dam* fine chipset, and I bet you intel can come up with someting of the same calibur.
what's the point of these "dreams," anyway?
oh yea.. sometimes a don't think before I write somethin. sry guys. but I was so enjoyed when I saw AMD with a new chip.. won't append again :(

I think arguemant can be good, but it has to be based on fact and under control, and we can't have every single thread involving AMD or Intel turn into an arguement.

The thing is andrew, these amd vs intel "wars" have occurred enough already, and although I do agree that would be nice, it really just doesn't happen, especially if the first post bashes one or the other.

I think he has a good point. Once the Sledghammer comes out, what can Intel do? the P4 might max out at 3.5GHz(as shown by supercooling). What is the next big Intel mistake? No offense to anyone, but I hate the P4 more than any other CPU, and not because it is Intel. Look at it this way: AMD got a DDR, not much advantage over SDR, but looks cool. Intel gets a "wuad-data-rate" which to me makes no logical sense, and probbably is about the same preforance of DDR 266, but it looks better. Intel increased the pipe-line to 20-stages. From a preformance standpoint, that does nothing, form a consumer view, that is 20(!) VS. 10(eww), coupeled with this the IPC number DROPS, from a preformance view: "holly $#it! they jsut did something stupid!" from a consumer view: "While, it is neseccary to acheive 2GHz."
That said, to calm down the Intel fans, the P4 doesn't competly suck, it lowers the price of AMD CPUs(I can even coutn how many intel people have said that about AMD).
