Are zip drives very easy to use?

Are they fast when putting data on a zip disk?

If you can use a floppy disk, you can use a Zip disk. Data transfer is pretty fast (faster than floppy), but not as fast as between hard drives.

sure they are ez to use. Just like a floppy, but one that can store about 200 times that of a floppy. And yeah they are fast.... they are very convenient for when the file is not THAT bit (250 mb and less) and u don't have to waste time burning a cd.

Internal and USB zip drives are reasonably fast, but parallel port models are slow (but not as slow as a floppy). Due to the cost of media, I would rather use a formatted CD-RW to do the same thing.

I got mine used at a comp show for $9. Usually they run around $30 or less depending on whether you buy new, oem, or used. Personally, I wouldn't fork out the $80 for a 250 mb zip drive, but for what I paid the 100 mb drive has been very handy for moving large (1.5mb+) files between non-networked comps. Or if you've got the extra $ get an external one, cause not all comps have zip drives. Dunno how much those are going for though.

Cheapest 100mb *disk* is $6. Drives are another story.

I thought he was talking about drives. Note to self -- read more carefully next time.
