installed fax and new line/modem wont connect

Hi guys,

Got a call from my bro tonight and he had this to say...

he had a new line installed and connected a fax to it but now when I went over there the phone modem wouldnt connect to compuserve.

Anyone have any ideas? The phone line was installed a few days ago so it is active.

Im sure its something simple but I cant figure it out.

Please explain your problem in more detail. It is very hard for me to understand your problem.
I mean, modem, what type of modem, computer, OS etc.
