I'm working on my cousins computer. She told me the problem that she is haveing is that she is getting email from porno sites and other sites that she has never been to. She just receinctly went through a devorce and never had any problems like this until after the devorce. Can her x-husband axcess this from another computer and if so how can we stop it? Her computer is a compaq p3 running winme. any help would be greatly appreciated. Tom

Hi Tom Hyatt,
Your cousin's ex-husband wouldn't need access to her PC. All he would have to do is submit your cousin's e-mail address to those websites. I don't know what she can do about it though, but I'm sure another member may have an idea or suggestion.
Oh, there are ways to take control of a computer remotely but I'm not familiar with the software or methods involved. She could try to visit some security websites for more infomation.

If her ex-husband is an experienced hacker then yeah he may be able to access her pc. If he's not a hacker then forget about it. Even if he is a hacker he won't be able to get in if she's running a firewall. But I wouldn't worry that it's anything to do with hacking. She's just getting spammed. (Spam=unsolicited emails) It happens to all of us at some point. I would suggest you have her call her ISP and have her email address changed. They'll walk her through changing the settings on her computer for the new address.
