Hi,

I would like some suggestions about which fan should I use.

First, I will need another fan than the stock one on my PIII 800mhz 'cause I will overclock it. I'll use thermal compound ( Artic silver II or III ? what's the difference? ). I don't really know which fan I could use.

Second, in my case on the front, their's like a small plastic thing, and it seems like a fan can go in there. I took a ruler and I gave me 70mm... 60mm or 80mm fan should I use? any suggestions??

Thanks guys!!

Hi Dim3x,

Is your PIII 800MHz a slot 1 or socket 370 processor?

What case are you using? Most cases use 80mm fans for case ventilation.

Oops forgot this :D

It's a socket 370 CPU. I don't really know which case it is, something like generic...

Hi Dim3x,

For overclocking a socket 370 CPU, I think a GlobalWin WBK38 or Alpha PAL6035 should work out fine.

Where did you measure when you got the 70mm dimension?

when I remove the plastic thing, I have a round hole. 70mm is the diameter of the hole. and I don't have any other hole ( like 4 hole to screw the fan ). any idea ?

thanks for the info for the cpu fan :)

Hi Dim3x,

That plastic thing that was attached to the front of the case, measure the inside opening. If it's slightly over 80mm, it should take a normal 80mm x 25mm fan. Does it look like it has latches that are meant to hold a fan inside it?

I mesured the plastic thing. Up-down it gave me 90mm, left-right it gave me 85mm, and diagonally it gave 120mm. Didn't saw anything to plug a fan in this, but it should do it somehow. now what? :D

Hi Dim3x,

My guess is it holds a 80mm case fan somehow. If you want to be certain, take the plastic thing with you to a local computer shop and have them fit the correct fan into it.

Ok I'll try this. But do you have any suggestions for a 80mm fan, that don't make too much noise?? thanks

I've never had any 80mm fan that was noisy UNTILL I knocked one of the blades out.... but then I put cards on my bike spokes and hollywoods on my 59 chevy too.

Hi Dim3x,

Panaflo L-1A fans run very quietly. You can get them here: 2CoolTek (http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/25/cat25.htm?955)
