I was asked by a freind to load w2k on a Sony Viao. Has anyone had any problems putting it on? Are there any links about w2k and laptop issues?
PS It will be Win2k server edition to be installed.
I am running it on a 166mx Thinkpad from 1997. It is slow, but rock steady. It should run just fine on a more updated system.

Just make sure that the BIOS is '99 or later (I think thats the requirement for a dumb installation) for it to be approved by M$. If not there is always a workaround.

As far as I know, if the components are in the hardware compatibility list for Win 2k , it should work.
BTW, it's rare to install Win2K Server Edition on Laptop.

Thanks for the input everyone. I realize it's rare for W2k server ed. to be put on a laptop, but that's what I will be given to install. I think the only differences are in the server extensions and network administration tools.
