could you explane just what you mean by formating xp pro.

as far as I no, there is no such thing.

if anything gets formated it would be your hard drive or a floppy disk , or even a cdrw disk, but never a operating system.

Hi Captn,

When you boot with the CD it will present you with a screen where you can choose to select/create/delete partitions. Once one partition is selection for the installation, it will give you the option to format it with FAT32 or NTFS. Once it's done it will begin copying the files. Hope that helps.

What DrZaius said. Through the XP CD in the drive and then at some point during teh boot process, it will ask you to hit any key to boot from the CD-ROM. Do it fast as it doesn't wait long for you to decide.

If you have problems with it booting up from the hard drive instead of the CD, then go into your BIOS, then to your Boot Devices, and disable all bootable devices, except for the CD-ROM. Once you have created all your partitions and it is ready to restart, restart, then go back into boot options in the BIOS and set it up so the device you want to boot from is first. Save and Exit. The boot process should then complete itself.
