I recently completed my first build and I used a Logitech Optical Mouse and an old keyboard. My problem is that even when the computer is turned off, the leds on the mouse and the keyboard stay on. I dont understand why this is because my old comp had the same mouse but not the problem. Thanks in Advance.

Hi Alaron56,
The lights are on because your motherboard probably has the Power On By Keyboard feature enabled. Look through your motherboard manual for this feature and it will tell you how to disable it, either by a jumper on the motherboard or through a BIOS option.

Thanks for the tip Cricket but I couldnt find anything like that in the BIOS. Im using an 8kha+ from Epox with the Pnp Award BIOS v6.00. I looked under power management in the BIOS and everywhere else but I couldnt find anything about power to the keyboard. The only things relating to the keyboard that I could find is an option called "Halt-On" which is set to "all but keyboard". Would that be it? It sounded odd to me because it didnt specificaly say its about power. Any Ideas?

Hi Alaron56,
I checked some other BBS for this problem and someone posted that this was a problem with the 8kha+ because of the "power on by keyboard" feature (like Cricket said). One of them said, however, that there was supposed to be a BIOS upgrade to fix this (they said it was called 8khi2116 - I looked all over and never found anything on this though so you may want to take that as rumor unless you can find otherwise). There is a short page at the Epox support site addressing this problem though. Doesn't tell you much more than you already know, but it is common enough to be put in their FAQ section. If you want to read it CLICK HERE (http://www.epox.com/html/english/support/motherboard/Get.asp?Article=1559)
