This question has been posted in the hardware area, but because that may have not been the right place, and also because have not received any answers yet I am posting it again in what I hope is the correct place.

I've got this problem with a USB Gravis GamePadPro not working, but I think that it may be a USB problems because I tried another one just the same that I
know works it I still have the same problem. It was working and I used it all the time, now it always comes up as 'unknown device' usb controller. My printer works ok, and so does my JamCam, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for PCI-USB bus, usb root hub, gravis gamepad, joystice port, soundblaster, several times. When I boot in safe mode I can then
see the correct drivers there in the device manager. It also does this on both windows 98_se & Win2000Pro, I have a dual boot set up, If even unhooked the hard drive put another blank one formated and reinstaled 98 the first software that I put on it was the gravis cd that comes with the game pad and it still would come up the same way I said above. One last thing that I was going to try was to 'clear' the bios, one question I had was does that do more then lets say 'load fail-safe bios' would do? is there something that the clear bios would change that cant be changed in the setup? Here is some info on what I'm
running.

Biostar M7VKB motheboard socket A 200Mhz FSB
AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz cpu
Award bios v6
256MB RAM
64MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX-400 AGP
Gravis GamePadPro USB

The motherboard has 2 USB ports on the back, then has 2 that can be hooked up
to a front USB case, which I have and have tried on both, in the bios I can enable or disable usb 1 & 2 I've also tried everyway with that too. If more information is needed I can pull up the device manager, system information, multimedia control panel, copy & paste them and post it or whatever else just let me know. I kind of wanted to check out the sis chipset motherboard for AMD but I still need to know if this is fixable or not.
