Hi all,
I have a buddy that can't open Adobe files (like MOBO manuals, etc) within IE 6.0. He downloaded Adobe Acrobat reader 5.0.5, but when they try to view a .pdf document, they get the "Page Unavailable" message. The browser doesn't even attempt to load the Adobe shell program. Is there a setting in Adobe or IE 6 that is not right? Thanks.

Try opening acrobat reader & accepting the "agreement". We've had a few 'puters at work that had the same problem & were fixed that way. Good luck. :)

Cheryl, thanks. I did, however, try that already. But, I didn't reboot after that. Maybe I will have them try a reboot.

There are some settings in acrobat reader under edit, preferences that might help...I tried playing with the settings here, but couldn't recreate the prob.

Checked the options, and they have everything selected for browser integration. I still haven't a clue as to what the problem could be. Any more ideas?

When you are downloading .pdf files you have to choose open if you want to view them. If you choose save IE6 will save the file to disk but not open it.

Thanks, Carl. But the problem is it didn't give me that option. Just returned a "Page Unavailable" message. I talked to MS and Adobe techs via email, and they each blamed the other, but did acknowledge it as a known problem. They didn't give a fix, just a workaround: deselct browser integration in Adobe, then, when you want to view a .pdf file, it will give you the option to save it to disk. After that, it can be opened in Acrobat no problem. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
